5 Things You Need to Know Today, 8/2

A talk on sharks and more for August 2.

1) Today we'll have a slight chance of showers between 1pm and 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm and a high near 77. Tonight, a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11pm and 1am. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy, with a low around 66. 

2) Today at 2:30pm at the 's Redfield Auditorium on Water Street will be "White Sharks in Our Backyard," a talk by marine biologist Greg Skomal. White sharks are coming back to New England’s coastal waters, drawn in by the growing gray seal population. Learn about the first time efforts of marine scientists to study the ecology of white sharks in the North Atlantic and see for the debut of new footage of this species captured in 2010. 

3) The will host Tim Jennings and Leanne Ponder as they entertain with a World Tales and Celtic Music program today from 3-4pm.  Admission is free, but seating is limited, so you will need to pick up a wristband at the Library to gain entry. The library will also hold its annual Ice Cream Party after the performance!

4) Tonight at 6:30pm, the is offering a teen craft session on "Making Seashell Mirrors" in the Herman Foundation Meeting Room. This program is free and all materials will be on hand!
