"Feasts of Falmouth" Pushed Back to Spring

The annual food fair will not take place this fall, but will instead return next May.

Fans of the annual Feasts of Falmouth food fair will have to wait longer than usual for the next event. Falmouth Volunteers in Public Schools, the organization responsible for the festival, announced recently that the Feasts, usually held in the fall, will not take place again until May 2013.

In a statement released recently, the organization explained the rtescheduling. "Falmouth Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) has moved its 11th annual food faire, The Feasts of Falmouth and Beyond, to the spring," the statement reads. "The move from a fall event to a spring event has been made to accommodate restauranteurs and the VIPS 30th anniversary year calendar.

"Look for the Feasts of Falmouth at Falmouth Marine Park on Scranton Avenue on Friday, May 31st. The new date will also feature a new time—4:00-6:00 p.m. Tickets will be available in the spring at local businesses and at the door.

"VIPS’ Feasts of Falmouth will feature a wide variety of Cape Cod specialties and local favorites, ranging from lobster ravioli, chowders, and ethnic dishes to homemade ice creams and fudge. In addition to the great variety of food, music and entertainment will be offered.

"The 2012-13 school year marks VIPS’ 30th year of volunteerism in Falmouth Public Schools. Since the program began, volunteers have contributed over 889,000 hours to Falmouth’s seven schools. As the school year begins, there are many opportunities for volunteers in the schools. If you have an interest and can give of your time, please contact VIPS for a list of current needs. We will help match your interests, schedule, and skills to a classroom, student, or event that is rewarding! VIPS encourages, trains, and supports volunteers of all ages to work with students, faculty, and administration. VIPS facilitates parnterships between the schools, community members, businesses, and organizations.
