NWS Issues Winter Blizzard Watch for Falmouth, A Potential Historic Winter Storm
One to two feet of snow is expected, beginning Friday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Watch for Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties effective from Friday morning through Saturday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, a Blizzard Watch and Coastal Flood Watch will also be in effect Friday evening into Saturday afternoon. Hurricane force winds are possible for the Cape and Islands during the storm. 35 to 45 mph north winds are expected with gusts up to 70 mph along the southcoast.
Light snow is expected to begin by Friday morning and increase in intensity throughout the day with the heaviest snowfall occurring Friday night into Saturday morning.
Residents should be aware that travel will be dangerous and may become nearly impossible due to blowing and drifting snow. NWS urges residents to be prepared to alter travel plans.
