Two Women No Longer Employed after Disrespectful Picture Goes Viral

Lindsey Stone and Jamie Schuh no longer work for Cape-based Life Inc. after Stone posted a picture of herself making an obscene gesture at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Facebook.

Lindsey Stone posted the infamous picture to Facebook last month.

Co-worker Jamie Schuh took the photo while the two were on a work related trip. The picture showed Stone making an obscene gesture at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The photo went viral and created a firestorm on Facebook, with many calling for Stone’s firing on a “Fire Lindsey Stone” Facebook page.

The Hyannis company released the following statement Wednesday on its Facebook page, Life Inc.:

We wish to announce that the two employees recently involved in the Arlington Cemetery incident are no longer employees of LIFE. Again, we deeply regret any disrespect to members of the military and their families. The incident and publicity has been very upsetting to the learning disabled population we serve. To protect our residents, any comments, however well-intentioned, will be deleted. We appreciate your concern and understanding as we focus on the care of our community.

It is unclear whether Stone and Schuh resigned or were fired from their positions.

Tell Us: Do you think the two should have lost their jobs for the incident?

Dumb act, very, very, dumb act. I think the girls should meet with some veteran groups and l find out what that incident meant to them. Knowing our veterans, after talking they would probaly forgive the girls. I don't think these girls are the Jane Fonda type.

Apparently they have learning disabilities in the respect department. I have lineage to Hamilton Fish who created the Tomb of the Unknown, come from many who have served and a son who is a Marine now. Shame on these two who should perform community service FOR the veterans.

Yes, they needed to lose their jobs. Hopefully, this will be a life lesson for them, and the girls will grow from it...

WHY, would, WHY do people behave with such a lack of awareness as to the pain they inflict on others? Yes, the consequence is justified. The Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?

I AM PROUD THAT THEY LOST THEIR JOBS AN SPEAKING AS A VETERAN I FEEL THAT THE SHOULD BE BANNED FROM ANY FORM OF HEALTH CARE IN ANY FIELD OUT THERE.
AS FAR AS PUBLIC SERVICE I THINK THEY SHOULD SERVE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AT GRAVES REGISTRATION HELPING IDENTIFY THOSE THAT THEY DESICRATED AN MADE TO FACE AND INFORM THE FAMILIES THAT THEIR LOVED ONES ARE DEAD.
OUR COUNTRY WAS A PROUD NATION MABY THEY WOULD LIKE TO MOVE TO IRAQ THAT SEEMS TO BE THEIR STATE OF MIND AS FAR AS OUR MILITARY IS CONCERNED!

Very happy that they lost their jobs. However, if I'm not mistaken, they are 30 something year old women - old enough to know better! How shameful for their parents because this is a reflection on them.

Those women were in DC on the company dime, and Life Inc wouldn't have survived a public relations nightmare if they were allowed to keep their jobs. I also believe it was the right thing to do. At 30 they're a bit old to be doing something so juvenile, but we've all done stupid things. I'm sure if they volunteer their services to veterans for awhile they can learn and grow from the experience, which has cost them a lot more than a job loss.
