This town hasn't been unique in quite some time! This is what I have been saying all along folks........wake up and smell what's brewing here in Sunnyvale Falmouth!! This town has issues! It's been this way since I was a boy and struggled to make friends. It is time for vigilante justice if our community is going to be held hostage by these punks. It sickens me to see what is going on here........perhaps it is time for my to go driving around with my mace and show who the real tough guy is. It's time for this town to standup to the scum of the earth and play a game of Truth or Dare.......we shall see who will be standing at the end of this game. I dare these punks to walk the same side of the street as me! Justice! JUSTICE!!!!!!!!!! Release their names!

Mike I couldnt agree more -keep saying it but everyone thinks Falmouth is perfect! We have major drug issues here and it is time for the people of this town to get their heads out of their behinds and deal with it. Someone posted on FB the other day they saw a drug deal on the drive thru line at McDonalds. Surprising? not really .

Thank you Emily! You very attentive to your readers, that is a great quality and bodes well for your future in this profession.
Working mom........people can't keep just standing by and allowing these types of activities to happen. It starts from the top and trinkles down........my parents raised me with values and taught me it is important to have friends. The behaviour of the young people everywhere is despicable......it is truly a Critical Madness!

i know one of the kids, & they werent a bad kid at all, jus hung out with the wrong people at the wrong time. everyone knows falmouth has issues & drugs, just like any other town in thid country. but just because we may put ourselves around the people that have issues or do drugs does not makr us wrong or different or mean we should be treated differently. were all human, NONE of us are perfect, & we all make mistakes.

When things go south people always say "they just hung out with the wrong people" well they too are the "wrong people" to the rest of us. I respectfully disagree with you in your character discription that they werent bad kids? Really? A good kid knows RIGHT FROM WRONG listens to what their parents and teachers taught them. Even if their childhood was rotten there comes a time when they cant blame their childhood for all the ills in their life. Thier comes a time to pull up the big girl and guy undies and make decissions that will benefit them and their community. If his step dad was having an argument getting out of control with his mother as the news reported then he needed to call the police. Or restrainted the step dad since there was TWO of them against him. I'm sure looking at the size of them they could have done it. Shoot him ... not unless there was eminent danger or the assumption of risk to their lives. By the way whos gun was it? Daddy or Moms or a stolen one?
God Bless them all really.

I have known of one of the young men since he was about age 11 and this comes as no surprise. He had a dysfunctional childhood and is maladjusted. If you think these are "good kids" that only shows your level of thinking. These are not the actions of "good kids".

I'm sorry........I respectfully do not agree entirely with your comment suzie cue! Sure, we all make mistakes.......but when a human being is shot multiple times in their home, that argument goes out the window.
See, in my opinion, that is the problem.........everyone wants to justify everything. "This happens everywhere", "we all make mistakes", or my personal favorite, "he/she is a good person". When do we ever hear that those that commit crimes are bad people? Do we ever? Perhaps those that are closest to our criminals are the most blind to their behaviour......
The bottomline is we will never know what goes on in the mind of others and we should stop making excuses for them. Take my former friend Jerry.......he had an affair with my ex-wife........should I just dimiss this behaviour and say "well, we are human, we all make mistakes" and pretend this never happened? I think not......

Mike you hit the nail on the head! Pricnciples values and respect which sadly dont exist anymore. My son is in second grade and I see the way the kids treat the teachers- absolutely no respect. It is despicable the fish rots from the head and I dont care what you say most behaviors are learned at home!!!!!!

exactly, most behaviors are learned at home, so you cant blame teenagers for something they learned from their parents & everyones entitled to theor own opinion& i didnt commet my opinion to have everyone "attack" me & im not gonna argue with people over opinions.

none of this has anything to do with drugs or hanging out with the wrong people, it has to do with an abusive household and someone doing the only thing they knew how to do to resolve the issue, so people need to check their facts when it comes to situations like this. don't believe all the hearsay, and just because they're young doesn't mean it has to do with drugs.

11:09 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2012
There is ALWAYS an alternative to resolving an issue, whether we like the solution or not . Everyone has the right to defend themselves and I believe in using deadly force if that is the only line of defense but , this ? One indeed pulled the trigger but two were at the scene THE SHOOTER AND HIS ACOMPLICE and three were ACCESSORIES ie:someone who INTENTIONALLY HELPS ANOTHER (perpetrator ) CONCEAL A CRIME or EVIDENCE. When do people start taking reponsibility for their actions? When do young people say to themselves "what do I need to do to make a better life?" I dunno too many excuses not enough people taking a hard look at themselves and their life and perhaps who they call FRIENDS.

Anybody thats calkng this kid a bad person must of never wittnessed an abbusive relationship or never been in one them selves. I'm not saying the kid was right for shooting the man but I tip my hat off to him for sticking up for his mother. It just sucks cuz now he might spend the rest of his life in jail. My heart goes out to his mother. God is good he just works in mysterious ways. Peace love and happiness God bless to u all

The wind turbines significantly decreased Falmouths home’s values. Falmouth is no longer the "Perfect Cape Cod Family Vacation Spot!" Falmouth has turned itself into an industrial complex within a residential community !
Willis Montgomery III
2:35 pm on Friday, April 13, 2012
Yeah, but at least a wind turbine produces income, unlike crime, which costs the town money. I would agree however, that Falmouth is not an ideal family vacation spot. It's noisy, there is a lot of crime, too much traffic in the summer and most of the beaches are private and the water is getting more and more polluted each year with more beach closings per season. Living here is pretty good in the off season though. Most people are pretty nice around here. I would say that it's a pretty small percentage of the population that causes most of the trouble.

OK, here it is folks..........all of you people that are sticking up for these goons think again! If he truly got caught up in the minute in protecting his mother, than why did he run? If she was in danger and he was defending her, why run around town all day and hide? If he is so noble that he was his mom's only line of defense from such an animal, then why run? Someone..........please answer this for me? Almost sounds premeditated in my opinion.......and yes, you are correct, I don't have all the facts. No one does except for those involved so don't try to play this high, almight "you don't know the truth" card when you don't either. To shoot someone and then run is cowardly, and these kids were old enough to know right from wrong. Go ahead and keep covering up for the fact there are a lot of bad parents out there that enable weeds to grow in our community. Go ahead, furnish them alcohol, drugs, allow these kids to do as they please........what kidn of people do you think they will grow into! Sharon has been hitting the nail right on the head!

This was much more than a random shooting. Do any of your remember the Halloween 2010 stabbing of an unconscious Fall River man on 23 Homestead. The names in that stabbing ... Fernandes, the then-14 year old son of Gaspa, Mr. Boyle. Just 18 months ago. These punks need to be taken off the street.

Mike S. You are Soooo right . What the heck is wrong with these people trying to justify this shooting. If this was to protect his mom them why run? I'll tell you , he has a history of this behavior . Is every one of his "friends" as brilliant as this Mensa member lol ? One would have thought his first thought would have to get his mom out of the home while his cohort called the police. 911 is not a hard number to remember . Who owned the gun? He had time to get a gun, take aim w/out hitting his mom and run away after the fact and you know he dialed someone too bad it wasn't the police.

Going to the assessors office and asking for an abatement because the town isn't securing the neighborhood seems reasonable. Think about it, talk to a realtor and ask them what this really does to your property value. Crime does a lot of damage to your home's value. Whether or not the danger is real, the perception is there. Ask around Falmouth about our neighborhood and people roll their eyes and then tell me I should move to a "better" neighborhood. How about this: Dear Falmouth, fix the drug dealing, speeding and general disregard for our neighborhood, and if you won't, then lower my taxes. I live here, I obey the law, and I'm not leaving. There are a lot of really nice people living on here in Teaticket, regular working folks who are responsible, good people. Get out there and meet your neighbors, say hello. Get downtown and complain and take action. We can improve things but we've got to speak up and take action, otherwise, the Selectmen just ignore us. Dear drug dealers, please just leave us alone, you have every right to destroy yourselves, but don't take us with you. Just leave us alone.

I am wondering where someone w/his and his step fathers history get a gun . I can not fathom either one of these people had a permit. Don't get me wrong , I believe in legitimate gun ownership. I'm sure it's hard to charge the three who aided him because that is hard to prove (even though anyone with a glimmer of intelligence knows they did). It must irk law enforcement when they get these punks and their hands are tied! Goodness they do not get paid enough! This kid wouldn't want me on the jury!

According to what I've read. I don't understand how this is self defense!?! His mom calls him states she's been beat, he goes to her (now where is she when he gets there?) the son gets a rifle a 22 I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong but depending on the model it can hold 10 rounds or a clip upward to 100. So these violent fools just happen to have it around? What is wrong with that mother??? A violent son & husband and a gun! Good job mom! Anyway the kid walks into the room points it at a sitting man , man gets up , kid says (paraphrasing [ you will stop doing this] pulls trigger multiple times and scrams? Yeah I would have stood up as well seeing a rifle pointed at me! Yep sweet child with thoughtful mother. Your life is what YOU make it.

What, will any of the folks that have commented on this article actually do to try to improve the situation? What action will you take? Would you call the Selectmen? Would you call the police? Write a letter to the Selectmen? Participate in a neighborhood watch? Pay higher taxes for more police services? Get to know your neighbors and watch out for them and call the police if you see something suspicious? I think most people want lower crime, but can't afford higher taxes because the cost of video game consoles, soda and salty snacks, and gas for the SUV to get to McDonalds and Dunkin' Donuts.

77 gifford street is a drug den, when these people were staying there it was used for doing hard drugs, it was a dump then, and is still now. the balding 50 year old guy that was there with his little dog was supplying these teens with hard drugs! Oh yea Falmouth has a non existent drug detective force, go up to the station and ask them, " NO MONEY"
