Artwork by David F. Kelley will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from January 4 through January 31, 2013. Opening Reception, Sunday, January 13, 3-5PM.

David Kelley studied art for 2 years at RISD following graduation from Providence College and has been a serious artist for most of his life while working professionally as a graphic designer and illustrator in publishing, pro sports and technology.  Despite a busy career, he always painted, experimented and entered juried exhibitions around the country as this activity was the background and creative source for his design work.

Says David: “Creating art is not easy, but if blessed with a degree of talent and strong motivation, you can fly over the speed bumps that impede your way to self-discovery. Motivation and belief is critical, because without it, you can think and talk, but not do. True motivation and belief in self is the critical gift that keeps you on track during the worst of storms and aids in the discovery, enjoyment and sharing of the gifts you've been given.”

He began working in pastels about 7 years ago and has won awards in open juried shows both nationally and on Cape Cod. He has been featured in recent articles in Cape Cod Magazine, the Cape Cod Life Arts Edition, the Falmouth Enterprise and Falmouth Bulletin. In 2008, David was selected as a “Signature Member” of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod and had a drawing selected by Northlight Books, Strokes of Genius 2: the best of drawing. Aside from juried and members exhibitions, David frequently exhibits his work locally and is represented by Woodruff’s Art Center in Mashpee Commons.

David is a Past President and active member of the Falmouth Artists Guild and South Shore Art Center in Cohasset.  He also holds memberships in the Duxbury Art Association, the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, the Connecticut and Southeastern Pastel Societies, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, the Bookbuilders of Boston and was the recent PR chairman and board member of the Falmouth Artists Guild. He is a past member of the Falmouth Cultural Council.  For more information about David and to see his work, please visit his website at: www.DavidKelleyOriginals.Com.  He can be contacted at 508-566-1252 and by email at dfkelley@pair.com.David F.
