Hurricane Sandy benefit concert at The Beach House
The Beach House Restaurant in North Falmouth will hold a concert and benefit drive this weekend to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy. Nationally touring singer-songwriter Don McCloskey will perform on Saturday, December 8th at 9 PM. He’ll be joined by musician Chuck Treece and John Beninghof, who will open the show up. There is no charge to attend, but attendees are encouraged to bring school supplies, canned goods, toys, blankets or donations for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. All of the gifts will be driven to Rockaway Park in Queens by Beach House Owner Pat Bonzagni and John Beninghof next week.
Don McCloskey is an eclectic singer-songwriter blending the folk troubadour tradition with all things Americana (rock, hip-hop, punk and country). His music has appeared in episodes of MTV’s The Hills, FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Michael Moore’s Academy Award-winning documentary, Bowling For Columbine. Based in New York, he has performed across the country and has appeared at The Beach House numerous times, always to a packed crowd. McCloskey lost a close friend in Hurricane Sandy, which was the impetus to do this benefit show.
“Don is a talented musician and always a huge draw on Cape Cod, but more importantly he’s got a big heart,” said Beach House Restaurant Owner Pat Bonzagni. “Our goal is to raise a lot of money and collect a lot of Christmas presents and other needed items, all of which we’ll be bringing down to families in Rockaway Part next week.”
