Libraries, Stores Reopen on Boxing Day

Five things to do and know in Falmouth this Dec. 26, 2013.

1. Thursday, expect a mostly cloudy skies and wintry mix of rain, snow, and freezing drizzle before 2 p.m. then a chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a southeast wind of 9 to 14 miles per hour becoming west in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent with total expected accumulation less than half an inch, according to the NWS.

2. Just one day after Christmas, most Falmouth stores that have not closed will return to their normal hours for those holiday returns or post-Christmas deal hunting.

3. After being closed for the holiday, Falmouth libraries reopen Thursday. Check your town branch for hours of operation.

4. The Falmouth Hospital Thrift Shop on the corner of Palmer Avenue and Ter Heun Drive needs volunteers to do a variety of retail-related tasks, such as ringing in sales, stocking shelves, sorting and pricing donations, and shop upkeep. To find out more, contact Susan Hanley, Director of Volunteer Services for Falmouth Hospital, at 508-457-3521 or by email to shanley@capecodhealth.org.
