Skating and Movies on a Sunny Falmouth Day

Five things to do and know in Falmouth this Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

1. According to the National Weather Service, today's Falmouth weather is expected to be sunny, with a high temperature of around 37 degrees. Tonight should remain mostly clear, with a low of 29 degrees and a west wind around 10 miles per hour, gusting to 20. As for tonight, here's what the NWS posted on its Facebook page: "Low temperatures tonight will be warmer than the High temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wind chills around the start of the New Year early Wednesday morning will be near or below zero. Enjoy the mild weather while it's here!"

2. The Falmouth Ice Arena is open for skating ($5) from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. today; there is no night skate scheduled.

3. Whenever you decide to take down your holiday greenery, here's Where to Recycle Christmas Trees in Falmouth.

4. Looking for a movie? Our Movie Fridays page has show times, reviews and more.

5. Are you a soccer player over the age of 40? "The Vineyard Football Club over 40s soccer team competes in Masters Division 4 of the New England Over The Hill Soccer League and is looking to add selected new players from the Falmouth area. VFC home games are played in Vineyard Haven and away games are played in the Boston Metro South area on Sunday Mornings. If you have experience playing competitive soccer, are fit and available to travel to 10 games in spring and fall season, we are interested in speaking with you," writes player/manager Neal A. Sullivan. For more information, email nealasullivan@gmail.com.
