High Tide Brings Flooding Risk in Barnstable County

While Falmouth is included in the coastal flood warning, which is in effect until 3 p.m., forecasters say the greatest risk in Barnstable County is to areas on the north-facing shore of Cape Cod.

The National Weather Service has a coastal flood warning in effect for Barnstable County through today's high tide.

While Falmouth is included in the warning, which is in effect until 3 p.m., NWS forecasters say the greatest risk in Barnstable County is to areas on the north-facing shore of Cape Cod including Sandwich, Barnstable, Dennis and Brewster.

High tides, already above normal due to the perigee effect of the recent new moon, could be amplified by a storm surge of as much as a foot.

High tide in West Falmouth is at 9:14 a.m. Friday. In Woods Hole it is at 9:25 a.m. and in Falmouth Heights high tide is just before noon, according to mobilegeographics.com.
