OCEARCH researchers, which launched on a large-scale shark tagging expedition from Woods Hole in July, have tagged a 1,400-pound Great White shark, according to WCVB.
The 12-foot, 7-inch female shark was pulled on board Thursday afternoon, according to the report. Crews observed as many as three sharks in the water off Cape Cod, but only the one took bait, WCVB reported.
The shark, nicknamed Betsy, can be tracked online using OCEARCH's Shark Tracker tool.
OCEARCH researchers teamed up with scientists at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute for a month-long voyage to capture, tag and release 10 to 20 white sharks and collect blood and tissue samples off the coast of Cape Cod on July 31. For more about the voyage, watch the above video.
