Rebecca Silva of Falmouth Honored as “Unsung Heroine”

Rebecca served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 23 years, including one year in Iraq,

Senate President Therese Murray (D-Plymouth) announced yesterday that Rebecca Silva of Falmouth was recognized as an Unsung Heroine of 2012 by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW).

“Rebecca’s devoted service to our military and our country merits recognition and gratitude,” Murray said. “Time and again, remarkable individuals go unacknowledged for their hard work and commitment to service, and so it is my pleasure to congratulate Rebecca for receiving this well-earned mark of distinction.”

"Our Unsung Heroines are women who don’t make the news, but make the difference," said Jill Ashton, MCSW Director. "They are women who selflessly offer their time and talents to their communities and in doing so make their cities or towns better places to live and work."
