UPDATED: Falmouth Pilot Killed In Plane Crash

Officials pronounced the pilot, Stanley J. Wisniewski, dead at the scene.

Late Wednesday evening, the crash of a private plane at Provincetown Airport killed pilot Stanley J. Wisniewski, 48, of Falmouth and seriously injured Tamar Levy, 47, also of Falmouth.

Officials pronounced the pilot, Wisniewski, dead at the scene. A helicopter flew Levy to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston with serious injuries.

An investigation into the crash is pending.

Wisniewski's single-engine plane, which was stored at the Falmouth Airpark in East Falmouth, took off from Provincetown at 10:45pm. It crashed into the woods just south of the runway and burst into flames.

A nearby Coast Guard crew in a helicopter rushed onto the runway to help at the scene. Levy was airlifted by helicopter to Boston.

Wisniewski and Levy recently started dating one another this summer, according to friends Beth and Jimmy DiPietro, who also made Wisniewski the godfather of their child.
