Weekend Planner: March 10-11

Check out these great events happening in Falmouth this coming weekend.

In the spirit of the 2012 "What’s Falmouth Reading?" selection Seen the Glory by John Hough, Jr., the is offering a movie series with a Civil War theme on Saturdays at 1pm. On Saturday, March 10, the library will screen Friendly Persuasion (1956, not rated) starring Gary Cooper and Dorothy McGuire. This film highlights the emotional and spiritual conflicts felt by a Quaker abolitionist family beset by the realities of the Civil War. 

Check out Heavenly Massage and Yoga Studio's open house on Saturday, March 10 from 9am to noon. The facility, located at 350 Gifford Street in the Homeport plaza, offers a full range of yoga classes including gentle yoga, power yoga, beginners' yoga, and Svaroopa yoga, and the staff includes a licensed massage therapist trained in multiple healing technques. Come on out to the on Saturday, March 10 from 11am-5pm for an indoor mini-golf event to benefit the school's new playground equipment. Golf 9 holes for $1; 18 holes for $2, and check out the raffles and the concession stand!

Register now for Meet the Chefs: International Series Featuring Jay Bartolomei of Landucci Italia this Sunday, March 11 at 9am at . Bartolomei is continuing his family’s restaurant tradition as the chef/owner of Landucci Italia. Previously, the award winning chef had owned Villagio, in Falmouth Village, where his family’s old-style techniques were offered along with today’s new and exciting Italian specialties. The cost is $39 per person; register online or call 508-495-1878, ext 303. Early registration is advised!

The will hold its "Shock and Thaw" eighth annual Polar Plunge on Sunday, March 11 at the restaurant, which is located at Falmouth Heights Beach. A $20 registration donation will benefit the Falmouth Service Center. Registration starts at 1pm, and the plunge begins at 2pm. A lunch immediately following the event will feature corned beef and cabbage, a t-shirt, and music by Dan Byrnes.
