Congratulations to Quick's Hole, which recently hosted a James Beard Foundation dinner with celebrity chef Cal Peternell of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, CA.

Quicks Hole and the Woods Hole Inn are both owned by Beth Colt, 2013 winner of the SCORE "Build a Better Mousetrap" award.

According to an announcement on Patch:

"Beth was nominated by the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce for successfully surviving the critical first five years of business and establishing herself as a permanent member of the Falmouth business community.

While there had been an inn operating in this 10,000 square foot, 14 room B&B since the 1870's, Colt completely re-conceived the property from a design and
marketing perspective, creating an upscale destination for the luxury consumer with her "vintage restored" aesthetic.

Marketing initiatives included total overhaul of room decor, new photography, new booking software and a new website.  Current year round occupancy is at 60%, well above industry averages, and the summer months are booked 120 days in advance.

At the same time, Colt renovated and re-conceived a restaurant on the ground floor of the building, offering customers a unique blend of Cape Cod meets Baha
California flair with lobster tacos, burritos, salads and more.  With casual counter service, a beer and wine license, and music on the weekends, Colt has turned Quicks Hole into the place to be in Falmouth on a warm summer night.

Starting a restaurant is always a fraught endeavor, and Colt weathered her share of tough breaks -- building department slow-downs, crazy chefs, broken equipment and much more. But with her partner of four years, Chef
Stephanie Mikolazyk, things have stabilized and Quicks Hole is now a favorite summer spot for Falmouth residents and Vineyard bound travelers.

Giving back is an important part of Colt's success, and she is a proud mentor/coach to many former employees, served on the Board of the I Have A Dream Foundation LA for 16 years, and currently serves as Board Chair for Falmouth Academy, an exemplary 7th-12th grade private school in Falmouth."
