The Woods Hole Public Library’s big
annual December book sale will be held on Saturday December 7, 10 AM-5
PM.  On that day, and in the days following during Library hours, the books
for sale will fill the Library’s large meeting room.

            There
is a large new inventory of recently donated books. The sale room will
be full of books, many in "gift-giving" condition, including some
first editions. Also, several people have donated their collections, one of
beautiful gardening books, and another, a huge collection of British
royalty.  This sale is always
popular with bibliophiles, especially those looking for  the perfect book as a gift for the holidays. Also
featured is a special table of holiday
books and another “collector’s” table with unusual and  antique books.

The Book Sale committee suggests
thinking of this sale as an opportunity for “Green Giving”, not only for its
proximity and gas savings, but also for the environmental savings of “re-using”
the  many beautiful books as great gifts.

As always, the books will be
arranged in subject categories on the shelves surrounding the room. For the
first week of the sale, the entire center of the room will also be filled with
books on tables. Some of the tables will feature new hard-back fiction, others
paperbacks. New shoppers are always very pleasantly surprised to find such
order in a book sale, and an even bigger pleasure are the low prices: most
hard-backs are only $2, and most paper-backs are only 50 cents. Of course there
are slightly higher prices on very special or brand new books.

This opening of the book sale has
been scheduled to coincide with Woods Hole’s crafts fair The Renaissance Fair, so people are encouraged to make a day of visiting
Woods Hole.
