The centennial of the Children’s School of Science
will be the topic of the Summer Conversation of the Woods Hole Historical Museum
on Tuesday, July 30 at noon. The “Conversation” format  includes a public talk with audience input.
The speakers will be the authors of the recently published book celebrating the
centennial, “Wet Sneakers and Nets, The Children’s School of Science
in Woods Hole, Massachusetts Celebrates 100 Years of Science Education
1913-2013. The authors are Dr. Will D. Moore, Jennifer Gaines and Charlotte E.
Moore, who was also the editor of the volume. They hope that members of the
audience will come ready to share their memories of the Science School.

Elizabeth Armstrong who was the inspirational photography teacher at the Woods Hole
School in recent
decades. There are also many historical photographs from the archives of the
Museum and from private collections. The book is available at 8 Cousins, the Woods Hole
Historical Museum,
and the School itself.

The Conversation will be held in the large meeting room of
the Woods Hole Library, adjacent to the Museum. Audience members are also
encouraged to see the exhibit about the Science School
in the first gallery of the Museum.

For more information, call the Museum at 508-548-7270 or

The event is free and open to the public.
