Night of Comedy to benefit Wings For Falmouth Families

Wings For Falmouth Families will host its fourth annual Night of Comedy fundraiser on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 8:00 pm (doors open at 7:15) to be held at the Coonamessett Inn, Falmouth, MA.  Sound Financial Advisors Janney Montgomery Scott proudly sponsors the event.  Jimmy Dunn is the featured comedian and Stephen Bjork will open the show.  Pete Brock, former NE Patriot and President of the New England Patriots Alumni Association, will oversee the event as the Master of Ceremonies.  For more information and to purchase tickets visit the website www.WingsForFalmouth.org or call Deb Levy at 508-540-2124, or Anne Marie Dillon at 508-540-9324.

Since 2003, Wings for Falmouth Families (WFFF) has provided local families with minor children an immediate safety net of financial assistance during a time of medical crisis or tragic event, thus empowering the family to focus on the needs of the family member who has become ill, and not worry about the monthly bills.   For one local family, a diagnosis of cerebral palsy in their newborn child turned their world upside down.  As the family did their best to cope, their bills piled up.  In addition to their monthly expenses of mortgage, car payment, insurance, heat, electricity and groceries, there were bills from the many specialists treating their baby, emergency room bills, prescription medication, the list goes on. Insurance doesn’t cover it all.  And hours of lost work as the parents cared for their child meant less income to pay the bills.

For another Falmouth mom expecting her fourth child, the diagnosis of hydrocephalus in her unborn child meant taking an immediate leave from work, and rest until the baby was born.  In a home where both parents have always contributed financially, loss of income put an even greater strain on this expectant mom and her family.

For both of these families, and many others, the ability to focus on their family in a time of crisis is overshadowed by the demands of everyday life.  Decisions such as whether to pay the heat bill or the electric bill have to be made.  Demand notices start coming in, creditors start calling, and what is already a very stressful situation is made even worse. WFFF comforts families during a devastating time by showing them that their community cares.  All funds are raised by the completely volunteer Board of Directors through fundraising events and direct appeals to hundreds of local residents who have become WFFF supporters.

Wings For Falmouth Families is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit.  For more information on Comedy Night, or to donate, visit www.WingsForFalmouth.org
