Noontunes Summer Concert Series: Arabella Ensemble

Join us on July 16th at 12:15pm at the Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole for the second concert of our 2014 Noontunes Summer Concert Series. The Arabella Ensemble, a Boston-based chamber group dedicated to creative programs of songs, lieder and instrumental works new and old, will present the program “Love in Bloom" featuring a garden of songs by Bizet, Mozart, Schumann, Mahler along with the famous "Flower Duet" from Delibes' opera, Lakmé, Edith Piaf's "la vie en Rose" and "Edelweiss" by Rodgers & Hammerstein.

The concert will take place in Fisher House, which is located at 13 Church Street, Woods Hole, across the street from the stone church. There is a free-will offering.

The Arabella Duo has concertized across the USA providing engaging and inspiring programs to audiences. As founders and co-Directors of the ensemble, collaborative pianist Emily Murphy and soprano Sarah Bach, began as a duo in 2007, formerly known as "Duo Inspiré" but have added other artists to the roster over the last few years. With the pianist named after the famous American poet, Emily Dickinson, and a soprano, a descendant of the Bach family in Germany including Johann Sebastian Bach, the duo set off on a path to pursue the performance of many genres but most importantly "Art Song".

Soprano Sarah Bach is possessed with a voice of "sparkling tone", "very fine legato" and "excellent coloratura technique" and is said to "communicate beautifully and convincingly". She has sung internationally throughout the UK, Canada and USA including Southwest corridor and the New England area. Her most recent performances include recitals at Northern Arizona University, Smith College, Boston University and New England Conservatory. A champion of new song, her repertoire ranges from oratorio and opera to art song and chamber music.

Flourishing young Mezzo-Soprano Grace Allendorf is known for her bright and shimmery tone, extensive range, and flexible coloratura. A consummate musician, she is dedicated to performing opera, oratorio, art song and new music. Ms. Allendorf currently serves as a section leader and soloist for the Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills and is a member of the Arabella Ensemble. Ms. Allendorf holds a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from Longy School of Music and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a minor in Theatre Arts from Brandeis University. She is a student of Jayne West and has participated in master classes with Martin Katz and Sheri Greenawald.

Collaborative Pianist Emily Murphy is known for her sensitive playing and is a sought after pianist in the Boston area. Ms. Murphy has most recently performed recitals at Northern Arizona University and Smith College for the Willa Cather Society. She holds a Masters degree in Musicology from the University of Washington in Seattle and a Graduate Performance Diploma in Collaborative Piano from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. She is on the piano faculty at the Yamaha Music School in Boston and has a growing private studio. She continues to enjoy accompanying in the instrumental and vocal departments at the Longy School of Music and freelancing with singers and instrumentalists throughout the Boston area.
