Spaghetti Dinner to Support Falmouth Service Men & Women

Members and staff of Fairwinds Clubhouse are hosting a
spaghetti and meatball  dinner in support of Falmouth service men and women who are
currently deployed overseas. The cost of the dinner is $5.00 per person, and
everyone is invited to attend.

Fairwinds Peer Support staffer Jonathan Pheeney and
Clubhouse Director Deborah Mckie are working with the Falmouth Military Support
Group to create healthy care packages for troops from the Falmouth community. Proceeds
from the dinner will be used to purchase items such as energy bars and other recommended
snacks that are enjoyed by the military personnel. The Military Support Group
has supplied the appropriate boxes for packing and shipping, along with a list
of names of our serving men and women.

Attendees at the dinner will be encouraged to write notes to
the soldiers for inclusion in the packages. “We’ve been told that reading
messages from home is as important as the snacks,” explained Ms. Mckie.
Fairwinds will have a supply of cards available for anyone who wishes to send
their good wishes along.

Fairwinds Clubhouse is providing all the food, which will be
prepared in the Clubhouse kitchen. Clubhouse members and staff are donating
their time for the event. “This is an important part of our program,” said Ms.
Mckie. “We are very blessed here at the Clubhouse with the support we’ve
received from the community.  Giving back
is one of our ways of saying thank you.”

Fairwinds is a rehabilitation Clubhouse  providing vocational, employment, educational
and social support for upper Cape adult residents who are recovering from
psychological disabilities. More information on the Clubhouse is available at
