The Flowers of Spring: a Concert in Tribute to Saint Patrick

Enjoy an evening of traditional Irish music, song and dance celebrating Irish heritage and the arrival of spring on Wednesday, March 12 at 7 pm featuring Spinner’s Lilt with the Kanaley Dancers. Tickets are $15 adults/$10 students and are available at the Library or call 508-548-4709 to reserve tickets.

The musicians of Spinner’s Lilt – Debra Murphy, Diane Maranchie, Pat Black and Bill Black, all from the Upper Cape – are dedicated to bringing the reality of this rich heritage to life by means of the lively dance music of Ireland and the songs that speak so eloquently of love and heroes, of sad and happy times. For this performance the musicians will be joined for a set by the dancers of the Kanaley School, young people who are working to ensure that the Irish dance tradition will be carried safely into the future.

It’s probably only an accident that St. Patrick’s Day corresponds closely with the beginning of spring, but in both cases it’s a wonderful excuse for those who appreciate the Irish cultural heritage to get back in touch with their musical roots, although we’re fortunate to have the music available here on the Cape for the other 364 days of the year!
