Help Restore a 'Block Island Double Ender'

If you have a nautical bent, here's a nearby project you might want to contribute towards.

It's December and a lot of us are thinking about what charities to give to this year.

If you're of a nautical bent (and living in Falmouth, you probably are), you might be interested in helping this project in a nearby community with similarly strong ties to the sea.

Down on Block Island, R.I., there's a project to restore a "Block Island Double Ender," a type of small open sailboat used in those waters from the early 18th century to the late 19th century.

The aim is to restore the "Unity," a badly-deteriorated 1972 replica. The project is being overseen by the Block Island Historical Society.

If you're salty and looking for a cause to help, give it a look on GoFundMe.com.

If you don't like the cut of this cause's jib, no worries: You can also look for other local charities on the website.
