Falmouth Funeral Announcement: Irene Russell, 94, Found Love After Hurricane

Russell met her husband Pete when he came to Woods Hole to repair the drawbridge after the 1938 hurricane, according to her obituary from Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Homes.

Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Homes has announced the death on Jan. 4 of Irene Russell, 94, a lifelong Falmouth resident whose funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's Church.

Russell met her husband Pete when he came to Woods Hole to repair the drawbridge after the 1938 hurricane, according to her obituary.

She worked as a medical secretary in Falmouth and Sandwich and after retirement traveled extensively on pilgrimages, the obituary continues.
