Falmouth Funeral Announcement: Retired Firefighter, 87

Visiting hours for Walter Joseph Cameron are from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 29 at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, followed by the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church and burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Homes has announced the death on Jan. 25 of Walter Joseph Cameron, 87, of Falmouth.

From his obituary:

"Walter served in the U. S. Navy as a gunner’s mate on an LST in the South Pacific during WWII. He later enjoyed a long career as a Boston Firefighter where he became a District Chief and was awarded several commendations for his heroic acts. Walter was most proud of his daughters and loved summering at their cottage in Falmouth enjoying boating and other cape activities. He was also a prolific storyteller with an amazing sense of humor."
