Falmouth Funeral Announcement: Robert O. Bigelow, 87, Engineer and Sailor
Funeral services will be held Sunday Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. in the Church of the Messiah, 22 Church Street, Woods Hole.
Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Homes has announced the Jan. 13 death of Robert O. Bigelow, 87, of Woods Hole.
An MIT-trained engineer who retired in 1993, "Bob will be remembered for his unique blend of friendship, intellect, and keen competitiveness, according to his obituary, which continues:
"He was an avid sailor and racer, especially in his Cape Cod Knockabout (“Blue Jean”), who taught sailing to countless children and friends and who frequently won series and regattas. Bob was also a devotee of golf, as a member of the Woods Hole Golf Club, and ice hockey, which he played and coached in Southborough MA for over 20 years."
