UPDATED: Man Jailed for Stealing from Corpse, Falmouth Police Say

According to the Cape Cod Times, after allegedly stealing a cell phone and a shirt from a man who had just died of a heroin overdose, Michael Christopher Averett was arrested in a Dunkin' Donuts. Arrest information does not indicate convictions.

A 23-year-old Mashpee man was arrested  on East Falmouth Highway in the noon hour Wednesday on a warrant as well as on suspicion of several new charges, according to arrest information from the Falmouth Police Department. 

According to the Cape Cod Times, after allegedly stealing a cell phone and a shirt from a man who had just died of a heroin overdose, Michael Christopher Averett was arrested in a Dunkin' Donuts where he struggled with police.

Police said Averett faces charges of resisting arrest, possession to distribute a class B drug, a drug violation near a school or park, assault and battery on a police officer, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and maliciously injuring real or personal property.
