No Jail for Joker in Bomb Threat at Woods Hole Ferry
Police told Patch the New Britain man was about to drive aboard a ferry to Martha's Vineyard on May 5, less than three weeks after the Boston Marathon bombings, when he jokingly claimed he had a bomb in his car. Nobody laughed.
A New Britain, CT man who jokingly told Steamship Authority workers he had a bomb in his car was found guilty last week of threatening to commit the crime of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Krzysztof Malz was sentenced to two years' probation and a six-month suspended sentence, the Times reports.
Falmouth police told Martha's Vineyard Patch the 45-year-old Malz was preparing to drive aboard the last ferry to Vineyard Haven on the night of May 5 when he made the comment about the bomb during a security screening by SSA staff, who called police.
Malz's joke and arrest took place less than three weeks after the Boston Marathon bombings April 15.
