The U.S. Coast Guard plans to unload the lighthouse and dwelling it owns at Nobska Point, which could wind up in new hands within the year, according to a Falmouth Enterprise report.

The USGC would continue to maintain the navigational light itself, as well as the Nobska Point foghorn, but the dilapidated structures are up for divestiture, the Enterprise reports.

By law the lighthouse can not be sold until it goes through the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act. It is highly improbable that this lighthouse would ever fall into private ownership.
