Falmouth Military Support Group Announces Scholarships

In the continuing support of our military serving in Iraq/Afghanistan and upon their return home, the Falmouth Military Support Group has established a Scholarship Fund.

It is The Falmouth Military Support Group’s mission to provide moral and physical support to area service members serving abroad and also upon their return home.  The group was organized in 2003 exclusively for charitable purposes. For over nine years the Falmouth Military Support Group has continued to provide a meeting place at the  at 7pm on the second and fourth Mondays of the month for family and friends to gather in support of our loved ones.

In the continuing support of our military serving in Iraq/Afghanistan and upon their return home, the Falmouth Military Support Group has established a Scholarship Fund. Many of our OIF/OEF (Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom) Veterans are returning to our towns in search of jobs; with the present job market, it has been difficult. Some of our returning Veterans are pursuing the opportunity to use their GI Bills for college or technical training.

Although the GI Bill has improved, it still does not cover all of the expenses needed to return to school. The establishment of the FMSGrp Scholarship Fund can offer assistance in this area. Monies have been earmarked for the Scholarship Fund to assist OIF/OEF Veterans in their pursuit of educational opportunities and they anticipate raising additional funds for the scholarships to continue for many years to come.
