Dense Fog, Cold Snap, $5 Pizza

Five things to know in Falmouth as we start the first full workweek of 2014.

1. The National Weather Service has a dense fog advisory in effect for the Cape and Islands until 10 a.m. Visibility could be down to a quarter of a mile at times, says the NWS, which cautions motorists to leave extra time for the morning commute, "as objects on and near roadways will be seen only at close range."

2. Monday's warm wave, when temperatures may reach the 50s and rain is expected in the afternoon, will soon be followed by another cold snap: According to the NWS, Tuesday's temperatures will be in the mid-20s with partly sunny, blustery conditions.

3. Botanical gardens: Why bother? Find out at Monday's meeting of the Falmouth Garden Club, with guest speaker Kathy Abbott, Director of the Towner Hill Botanical Garden in Boston. The meeting is open to the public: Non-members and walk-in guests are welcome to attend for a $5 fee. First Congregational Church, 68 Main St., 1 p.m.

4. "This 'N That" - Multimedia Art by Ej Mills Brennan is on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television, 310A Dillingham Avenue, Falmouth this month. The public is invited to attend the opening reception Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

5. Wednesday, starting at 4 p.m., enjoy $5 Pizzas and Live music with The Silent Trees at The Beach House.
