1. Christmas is still two weeks away, but the tireless Falmouth High School band boosters are taking reservations for tree recycling with pickup scheduled for Jan. 18. Here's how to make your reservation, help teen musicians and get a tiresome task off your to-do list.

2. The Falmouth Art Center is hosting a holiday gift making workshop for children, Tuesday at 1 p.m.

3. The Friends of the Falmouth Public Library 2013 Holiday Book Sale starts this week.

4. There's a Spaghetti Dinner to Support Falmouth Service Men & Women at Fairwinds Clubhouse, Wednesday starting at 4 p.m.

5. Free pick for kids: The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's weekly "Peanut Butter Club" presentation is a book talk by author Dallas Murphy and videographer Ben Harden, Friday at noon in Redfield Auditorium, 45 Water Street, Woods Hole. Dallas Murphy will talk about his new book To The Denmark Strait, a firsthand account of a modern oceanographic adventure with world-renowned WHOI oceanographer Robert Pickart aboard the research vessel Knorr on an expedition to affirm the existence and origin of a previously unknown oceanic current between Greenland and Iceland. Sponsored by the WHOI Information Office. Coffee, tea, and cookies served. Donations accepted.
