Guess What's Playing at the Woods Hole Public Library?

There's a free movie playing Saturday afternoon, but the library is not allowed to publicize the title. Can you identify it from the clues?

The Woods Hole Public Library moves through winter with the second in a series of Saturday Kids' Films, preceded by an hour of  knitting class, on January 11.

The knitting starts at 2 PM; the films start at 3 PM. The classes are open to knitters of all abilities, even none at all. Instruction will be provided. Knitters should bring their own needles, preferably wooden and large, at least size 6 and medium yarn.

The license for public viewing which the Library holds does not allow the name of the film to be included in press releases. The Library has worked around this strange requirement by posing riddles and clues to the films, so people can solve them.

The name of this week’s film is a description of the major character in the film, which includes both his job title and an adjective of his state of mind. (Many wives of local scientists admit to having used this description for their husbands.)

This particular “classic” film is a Walt Disney production from 1961 starring Fred MacMurray; he plays the inventor of an anti-gravity device.
