'Petals and Palettes' - Your Guide to the Falmouth Art Center Awards

Fine art and flower arranging go head to head when the Falmouth Garden Club takes on the Falmouth Artists Guild at the Art Center. Sunday's reception includes an award ceremony for the juried art show: Here are the winners.

The Fall Juried Exhibition of the Falmouth Artists Guild, on display at the Falmouth Art Center through Nov. 18, holds its opening reception and award ceremony Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m.

The reception, dubbed "Petals and Palettes," features floral arrangements created by the Falmouth Garden Club to complement the artworks, which include the following award winners: 

Best in Show: "County Fair," oil by Anne Tcherepnin, $1,800
Best Fiber: "Tribute to a Tailor," fabric by Mary Barry, not for sale
Best Graphic: "Repose," pencil by Adam Rhude, $1,500
Best Mixed Media: "Behind the Laundry," acrylic by Francine Bitting, $950
Best Non-Representational: "Speed," ink jet on aluminum by Phil Richardson, $200
Best Oil/Acrylic: "Curiosity," oil by Linda Walker, not for sale
Best Pastel: "Make it This Big," pastel by Betty Jameson, $350
Best Photograph: "Lunch," photograph by Milton Williamson, $150
Best Water Media: "Chrysalis," watercolor by Kate Aubrey, not for sale

Jurors Choice: "The Old Apple Tree," acrylic by Bonnie Maresh, $400
Honorable Mention Graphic: "A Taste of Honey, No. 2," colored pencil by Cynthia Brunk, not for sale
Honorable Mention Mixed Media: "Nobska," 3-D by Lenore Abelson, $150
