Weekend Agenda: Labor Day Weekend 2013 in Falmouth

How do you mark the traditional last weekend of summer and the holiday created to honor America's workers? Here are some tips for things to do in Falmouth, plus a few recipes for your Labor Day cookout, and we welcome your comments below.

Saturday, Aug. 31:

  • Enjoy traditional music at at Liam Maguire's Irish Pub & Restaurant in Falmouth, where the Irish "session" begins at 4 p.m.
  • At Oysters Too in East Falmouth, music begins at 6:30 p.m. with Bill Landolfi playing light classical, followed by pop and rock into the night with Johnny's Thing. 
Sunday, Sept. 1
  • Gallery 333 in North Falmouth will be closing for the season soon, but the art gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. today. Find out more at gallery333.com.
  • Take a walk through the grounds and gardens at Highfield Hall starting at 12:30 p.m. as docents tell the story of the Beebe family, who built both Highfield Hall and its sister mansion Tanglewood on their 700-acre estate, which later became Beebe Woods, Falmouth Hospital, Falmouth Academy and more. $5 suggested donation. Reservations appreciated for large groups: 508-495-1878, x 2.
