When Does the Fall Foliage Peak?

Use Yankee Magazine's fall foliage forecast map to plan your leaf-peeping excursions.

Written by Sam Bonacci

Fall is a time of apples, warm cider and vibrant colors. But if you wait too long to get out of town and go take in those colors, you might miss them at their dazzling peak.

So how do you decide what weekend to go leaf-peeping? It turns out to be as easy as clicking a link:

Yankee Magazine — in conjunction with MaineFoliage.com — has published a map that lets you see the fall foliage as it is predicted to peak and move through New England. Now you can hit "play" and see which way is best to head during a particular weekend, or what day to set aside for a long car ride through the country.

If you find some outstanding foliage, you can also share the photo with Yankee Magazine on another interactive map they have of the foliage as it unfolds, or on their Facebook page.
