Registration Opens for 41st Annual Falmouth Road Race

Each year more than 11,000 runners gather in Woods Hole for the Falmouth Road Race. This year will be no different despite the Boston Marathon bombings last month.

President Scot Ghelfi said there may even be more runners this year as the running community is motivated to prove that a terrorist attack will not deter them. Ghelfi said organizers are also taking extra security precautions this year. “We are in the process of meeting with the police and fire department in town and we will take their lead on any added safety measures that need to be put in place,” Ghelfi said. The board is also hoping to have a ‘Falmouth is Boston Strong’ t-shirt to raise money for the One Fund. Falmouth residents and taxpayers can register through May 7th and lottery participants through May 19th on racepartner.com. The registration fee is $50.

Massachusetts has a renewable energy goal of 2000 megawatts of renewable energy by the year 2020. If the vote in Falmouth is to take the residential homes the legal action by abutters and/or homeowners could stretch out to the year 2020 and the town could lose. The legal action could halt commercial wind in Massachusetts until the case is decided in 6 to 8 years. Leaving the Falmouth wind …   more ›
