Five Students Taken to Hospital following School Bus Accident

An accident involving a school bus and a car sends five Falmouth students to the hospital this morning.

  The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. on East Falmouth Hwy. and Fresh Pond Rd., according to the Cape Cod Times. Five students that were riding on the bus during the crash were taken to Falmouth Hospital as a precaution. The accident is under investigation.

I passed this accident on the way to work today. The bus was struck on the side. It was a smaller bus, so hopefully the kids were buckled in. But I'm sure it was very scary!   more ›

Car Accident Leaves One in Critical Condition

An accident involving a pick-up truck and garbage truck this morning sent one to a Boston hospital in critical condition and shut down Rt. 151 for some time.

Falmouth police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 151 near Ashurnet Rd. at 8:30 a.m. today, according to a press release. When police arrived on scene the pick-up truck was fully engulfed in fire and the garbage truck was overturned; both drivers were out of their vehicles. The Falmouth Fire Department put out the fire and treated the drivers for their injuries, later transporting them both to the Falmouth Hospital. The female driver of the pick-up truck was later taken by Med-Flight to a Boston area hospital in critical condition. The driver of the garbage truck suffered minor injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Police Investigating Car Found in Falmouth Harbor

Police are investigating what caused a car to become submerged in Falmouth Harbor early this morning.

A call to police just after 4 a.m. this morning reporting a car crash near Scranton Ave. lead police to the submerged 2007 Toyota Corolla, according to the Cape Cod Times. The car went into the water near the town boat ramp; police say no one was inside the car at the time of the incident. According to police the car is six to seven feet under water. The incident is under investigation.
