Falmouth Women Injured in Wrong Way Crash on I-495

A pick-up truck driving the wrong way on I-495 caused a three-car crash and injured three just after midnight Friday morning.

  The driver, Kevin Schmidt, 24, of Middleborough, was driving his pick-up truck south in the northbound lanes on interstate 495, according to the Cape Cod Times. The pick-up struck two other vehicles injuring both drivers just after midnight Friday. Eileen O’Donnell of Falmouth sustained minor injuries during the crash but was not taken to the hospital. Lise Calixte of Randolph was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. Schmidt was taken to a Boston hospital with serious injuries. State Police shut down the northbound lanes of I-495 for about two hours after the crash. The crash is under investigation.

Falmouth Police Investigating Accident

The Falmouth Police Department is investigating an early morning accident that injured two.

A Nissan struck a tree just after 4 a.m. this morning on Waquoit Highway, according to the Cape Cod Times. The impact completely destroyed the vehicle according to police. The driver of the car and her passenger, also a female, were transported to Falmouth Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police are investigating the accident and have not filed any charges.

UPDATE: Car Accident on Woods Hole Road Kills One

A one-car accident on Woods Hole Road killed William W. Vose of Woods Hole early this morning.

A one-car accident on 462 Woods Hole Road, ejected the car's driver, Willam W. "Wes" Vose, at around 1:30 this morning. According to a press release Vose lost control of the car that witnesses described as going well above the speed limit. Vose was alone at the time of the crash. The car caught on fire after the accident and people present at the scene pulled Vose a safe distance away from the burning car. The car was fully engulfed in flames when rescuers arrived. Vose was transported to Falmouth Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police believe speed was a contributing factor to the crash.     Check back to Falmouth Patch for more details.

Friday Morning Crash Flips Truck, Injures Several

The crack-up sent several drivers and occupants to Falmouth Hospital.

Police responded to a major car accident on Teaticket Highway Friday morning. The crash, which occurred around 7:20 a.m., in the area of Clipper Ship Farms, involved three vehicles—one of which was rolled onto its side—and multiple injuries. According to a press release issued by the Falmouth Police Department, “A Brown 2010 Honda CRV traveling west on Teaticket Highway crossed the double yellow line into the path of a Green 2006 Ford F150 4-door pickup truck...traveling east. The operator of the F150 swerved to the right onto the soft shoulder to avoid a head-on collision.” Thanks to the quick reaction of the truck's driver, the Honda struck the Ford on the side, rather than head-on. Driver Charged in Fatal Falmouth Crash

The charges against Matthew Laughead were filed this week after police and the accident restoration team finished their four-month investigation.

The Cape Cod Times is reporting that Falmouth Police have filed charges against the driver in a car accident that killed two men last October.  On October 30 of last year, the Falmouth police and fire departments responded to a one-vehicle crash in the area of 371 Jones Road shortly after midnight. The vehicle had struck a tree and a fence before coming to a stop. Two occupants of the vehicle, Bryan Laughead, 38, and Jamie Duffany, 28, were pronounced dead at the scene. UPDATED: Falmouth Man Dies in Early Morning Car Crash

21-year-old Sean Murphy of East Falmouth died after an early morning crash along Sandwich Road on Saturday.

Falmouth police have identified the man who died as a result of an early morning car crash Saturday as 21-year-old Sean Murphy of East Falmouth. The Honda sedan driven by Murphy went off the road in the area of 770 Sandwich Rd shortly after 2am Saturday and struck a tree. Murphy, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was extracted from the severely damaged vehicle by Falmouth Fire Rescue. He later died from his injuries at Falmouth Hospital. Extensive extrication efforts with power and hand tools took about 50 minutes. A Med Flight helicopter was called but could not respond due to weather.  The Cape Cod Times reports that Murphy, a 2008 graduate of Falmouth High School, was a longtime employee of the Captain Kidd Tavern in Woods Hole…

UPDATED: Car Accident Kills 2 on Jones Road

The crash occurred shortly after midnight in the area of 371 Jones Road.

An early-morning car crash has killed two people in Falmouth today, according to police. According to a press release, the Falmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to a one-vehicle crash in the area of 371 Jones Road shortly after midnight this morning. The vehicle had struck a tree and a fence before coming to a stop. Two occupants of the vehicle, Bryan Laughead and Jamie Duffany, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant, Matthew Laughead, was transported to Falmouth Hospital before being taken to a Boston-area hospital.  The crash is currently under investigation by the Falmouth Police and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.

Driver Killed in Davisville Crash

Douglas Andrade was killed in a crash shortly before 1am today.

A driver was killed in an early morning crash today when his vehicle struck a utility pole and tree on Davisville Road.  The driver, Douglas H. Andrade, 24, of 65 O'Donnell Avenue in East Falmouth, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Falmouth Police press release.  Police reports indicate that Andrade's car was clocked at 76 mph on Davisville Road shortly before 1am today. By the time the police cruiser caught up with him, the accident had already occurred. Both the car and the utility pole were cut in half by the impact of the crash. NStar crews worked Wednesday morning to replace the pole after much of the Davisville neighborhood suffered a power outage in the early morning hours.  The accident is currently under …
