The Church of the Messiah will hold a special service this evening to allow local residents to mourn and show support for the Newtown, Ct. community.

The service will be held tonight, Saturday December 15th at 5 p.m. in response to the events in Sandy Hook and Newtown, CT. Reverend Deborah Warner said she wanted to hold the service to give residents a chance to grieve as a community. “What struck me was the need to come together as a community in solidarity with those that have lost children and friends in acts of gun violence,” Warner said. Warner also has a personal connection to the tragedy, she knows the Episcopal minister in Newtown and says she has a heavy heart for that minister and first responders who are dealing with one of the nation’s worst school shootings in history.
Community members created a roadside memorial for 22-year-old William Vose who was killed Sunday in a single-car crash. A memorial service is planned for Thursday.
William W. “Wes” Vose was killed in a one-car accident on Woods Hole Road Sunday. Vose was ejected from the car, according to the Falmouth Police Department. Wittneses told police Vose lost control of the car that was traveling well above the speed limit. Vose was alone at the time of the crash. Vose passing has touched the community of Woods Hole. Vose graduated from Falmouth High School in 2008. Many friends remember Vose for his creativity and acting, according to the Cape Cod Times. Vose starred in “Retreat” at age 11 with Michael Knight; the movie was filmed in Falmouth. Vose also produced and directed a short film presented at the Woods Hole Film Festival in 2006.
