People for Cats: Adopt Pinot

Pinot is a young cat with silky fur who is looking for a new home.

The following was provided by People for Cats. Our featured cat this week is Pinot, a.k.a. Blackie, who came into the shelter after having been fed outside by one of our volunteers for several months. Pinot is about 1 1/2 years old, has double paws, and has the shiny, silky fur that is characteristic of most black cats.  He is shy but his social skills are improving by leaps and bounds. Several of our volunteers have been working with him and Pinot now comes to them for attention. He sits on their laps and gives them little cat kisses. A gentle guy, Pinot loves to be petted, even turning upside down for belly rubs, which is a cat's way of showing trust in someone. He has made friends with PeeWee, another shy cat in his suite, and we are …

People for Cats: Adopt Misha!

Misha's requirements for a happy life would include a sunny window for naps and someone to give her lots of affection.

Misha was a stray in Mashpee who was lucky enough to have a kind person feed her until she eventually came to us. She is still quite thin, but has relaxed in a suite at the shelter and is ready for a real home. We think this long, slender tortoiseshell girl is 6-8 years old. Quiet and friendly, Misha is ready to put her days of fending for herself behind her and is eager to share her company from now on with someone in a calm home. We think Misha would prefer to be the only pet, but her only other requirements for a happy life would be a sunny window for naps, a reliable source of food, and someone to give her the affection she missed out on these last few months.  Our shelter is located at 44 Beagle Lane in Teaticket. Visit Misha and our …

People for Cats: Adopt Dottie!

Dottie is a friendly, curious, and playful gal.

This petite, one-year-old, gray tuxedo is Dottie. In spite of having been abandoned in Pocasset, she is a friendly, curious, and playful girl. Dottie gently touches our faces with her paw and affectionately butts her forehead against us. We think this happy girl would prefer to be the only cat in a household, but she might be okay with a dog and should be fine with children. A forever home of her own is our wish for Dottie.  Adoption hours at our shelter our Wednesdays from 4-6pm, Saturdays from 10am-1pm, or by appointment. The shelter address is 44 Beagle Lane in Teaticket.  People for Cats, Box 422, West Falmouth, MA 02574. Hotline: 508-540-5654

People for Cats: Adopt Nova!

Nova is a healthy middle-aged cat who will make a good companion for anyone.

Nova is a 9-year-old cat who was recently surrendered to our shelter because her owner could not afford to keep her. She is a dilute calico with beautiful markings.  We are told that Nova likes children and we already see that she is friendly with people, purring as soon as we pet her.  Nova can live with a calm dog, but would prefer to be the only cat in a household. She is a healthy, spayed, middle-aged cat and is up-to-date on her shots who will make a good companion for anyone. The adoption fee for a cat 8 years or older is half that of our regular fee. Visit Nova and our other cats at our shelter at 44 Beagle Lane in Teaticket.  Adoption hours are Wednesdays from 4-6pm, Saturdays from 10am-1pm, or by appointment. People for Cats, Box …

People for Cats: Adopt Shadow!

Meet this beautiful tortoiseshell kitty who loves attention.

Meet Shadow, a friendly tortoiseshell cat who is about 7 years old. She came to us because she was unhappy living in a household with very young children. She has been declawed, so she must be adopted as an indoor cat. (We recommend that all cats be kept inside, but it is especially important with a declawed cat who has no way of defending itself.) Shadow has adjusted to shelter life now and, although she would prefer to be the only pet, might live comfortably with another mellow cat. She still waits for us to come to her but once we stroke and pet her, she is friendly and appreciative of the attention. Shadow would like a calm home without the bustle of toddler-aged children, but should fit in well with almost any other type of family.  …

People for Cats: Adopt Razz!

Razz is ready to find his forever home in a quiet setting where he can devote all his affection to his own special person.

We are looking for someone special to adopt our Razz. He is a healthy, nine-year-old brown tabby with distinctive round, yellow eyes. When Razz first came to us more than a year ago, he was painfully shy and withdrawn. After having spent many months in a loving foster home, Razz has become a different cat. Although he waits to be approached, Razz is super affectionate, rolling over and purring loudly to enjoy receiving any attention. Recently he again spent a month in someone’s home, where he was most happy being a lap cat or curling up on the bed during the night. Now Razz is ready to find his forever home in a quiet setting where he can devote all his affection to his own special person.  Our shelter is located at 44 Beagle Lane in …

People for Cats: Adopt Brooke!

Brooke's main interest at this stage of his life is play, play, play!

Brooke is a 7-month-old tuxedo boy who has already been neutered and had all his shots. He is shy with strangers, but once he gets to know someone, Brooke is a snuggler. His main interest at this stage of his life is play, play, play! Curious about everything around him, Brooke will happily investigate his surroundings and play enthusiastically with cat toys. Having another playful cat with whom to share the fun is an added bonus for Brooke. This young cat needs a home where he can develop a bond with someone and where his lively personality will be appreciated. Brooke would prefer that there be no very young children, but a family with older children or another friendly cat would be perfect.  Visit our shelter at 44 Beagle Lane in …

People for Cats: Adopt Elmo!

This tuxedo kitty with a charming disposition won't be at the shelter long!

Elmo is a newcomer to our shelter, but we doubt he will be here long. Only about a year old, Elmo is a slender tuxedo cat with a splash of white beside his nose. He is neutered and has had all his shots. Elmo loves attention from our volunteers and rolls over in invitation whenever we approach. Playing is important to young cats like Elmo, and he would be a wonderful first cat for a family with children who would keep him busy. This friendly young boy is a charmer, and he would brighten anyone’s home with his happy company.  Adoption hours are Wednesdays from 4-6pm, Saturdays from 10am-1pm, or call our hotline for an appointment. Our shelter is located at 44 Beagle Lane in Teaticket.  People for Cats, Box 422, West Falmouth, MA 02574. …

People for Cats: Adopt Mardi Gras!

Marty is a sleek, 11-month-old, neutered black cat with bright golden eyes.

We are looking for a foster home for this young cat. Mardi Gras, "Marty" for short, came to us as a stray with a leg wound of unknown origin. Because we do not know if he was up-to-date on his vaccinations, Marty must by law be kept inside and separate from other animals until mid-August. Marty is a sleek, 11-month-old, neutered black cat with bright golden eyes. He has a wonderful temperament, but having to remain in a cage at our shelter is not ideal for a healthy, active cat. PFC can provide food and litter, and will pay for any vet visits should Marty need them. A foster parent, if desired, has the option to adopt Marty at the end of his quarantine period. For more information about this friendly boy, call our hotline and ask for Joan …

People for Cats: Adopt Tiger Lilly!

Tiger Lilly is an energetic young cat with a great temperament.

Tiger Lilly is a playful, active 2-year-old cat who came to us when her owner could no longer care for her. She has medium length brown tabby fur with white chin, chest, and paws. Tiger Lilly has double front paws which look enormous on her petite body. A cat who responds to catnip, she plays happily with any catnip toy she finds. We think Tiger Lilly would do well with a family without toddler-aged children, but she needs someone who will play with her to use up some of her energy. She will be a source of amusement for anyone who adopts her.  Adoption hours are Wednesdays from 4-6pm, Saturdays from 10am-1pm, or by appointment. Our shelter address is 44 Beagle Lane in Teaticket.  People for Cats, Box 422, West Falmouth, MA 02574. Hotline: …
