The third annual winter market at Mahoney's Garden Center in East Falmouth opens Saturday.

An East Falmouth man was charged with felony breaking and entering.
Brian Baker, 51, of 11 O'Donnell Ave., East Falmouth, was arraigned in Quincy District Court on charges of felony nighttime breaking and entering, larceny over $250, and malicious destruction of property over $250. The case was continued to Jan. 10. Baker was released on personal recognizance. The charges stem from an Oct. 7 incident in Braintree at 10:59 p.m. when police responded to a report of breaking and entering at Kmart on Grossman Drive. Police said an employee saw a person in front of the store who then fled in a red minivan. Police said they found that the bottom section of the store front door had been shattered. The Barnstable County Fair will return for its 168th season this summer from Saturday, July 21 to Saturday, July 28. East Falmouth-based company ePaint makes eco-friendly boat maintenance products by developing and marketing non-toxic marine coatings.
Alex Walsh says he “sanded his fair share of boat bottoms” while working on the waterfront during his summers in East Falmouth. But it was only after taking an environmental toxicology class at Clark University that Walsh, whose family came to the Cape in the early 1800's, became aware of the harm he might have caused himself and the environment by working on boats, breathing hydrocarbon solvents and sanding dusts. He discovered that bottom paints are registered pesticides. Walsh says he questioned "how this socially accepted practice was permitted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,” especially when “young uneducated laborers [are] exposed to such toxic materials without truly understanding how this temporary employment can have …

The pilot was reportedly not injured in the crash.
At about 11:15am this morning, the Falmouth Fire Department received a call reporting a plane crash in East Falmouth. Responding officers located the pilot and the small single-engine craft in a wooded area near Timothy Bourne Cartway. The plane was approaching a landing strip at the nearby Falmouth Airpark. The pilot, who has not been identified, suffered minor injuries, and there were no other passengers in the plane. The cause of the crash remains under investigtion.

Justin Beckwith and Joshua Lauzon had been charged previously with multiple breaking and enterings and burglaries.
Two Falmouth men were arrested early yesterday morning on charges that they allegedly broke into and stole a vehicle from an East Falmouth residence while the owner was sleeping. According to a police report, it was around 2:30am on Tuesday morning when Officer David Massi of the Falmouth Police Department observed a green Volvo driving up Davisville Road carrying two passengers, both of whom were allegedly wearing black and attempting to hide their faces. After pulling the vehicle over near Ox Bow Road, Massi identified the suspects, Justin Beckwith, 18, and Joshua Lauzon, 17, both of Falmouth.
