Mahoney’s Winter Market to Open in Falmouth

The third annual winter market at Mahoney's Garden Center in East Falmouth opens Saturday.

From Mayoney's Garden Center: This winter, shop fresh and shop local at Mahoney’s Winter Market. Every Saturday, January 12 to March 16 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Mahoney’s in East Falmouth will host locally-grown farmers and artisans to feature root vegetables, herbs, fruits, cheeses, meats, seafood,baked breads, desserts, and olive oils, plus select jewelry and clothing. “It’s amazing to see the variety of fresh vegetables grown in winter at our local farms. Mahoney’s Sends Record Number of Trees to New England Troops

More than 1,500 military families will get a Christmas Tree this year thanks to Mahoney’s Garden Center and the Trees for the Troops program.

Customers purchased trees at all of Mahoney’s eight locations from Veteran’s Day to December 2,  during the Trees for Troops program.   The company donated twice the amount of trees it did last year. Mahoney’s is now the number one generator for the program in North America. “We want to thank everyone that donated a tree for “Trees for Troops,” Paul Waxman Director of Marketing said in a press release. “This is a program that we hold very close to our hearts, and we’re so proud that our community has been so generous to our military families.” Fed ex donated shipping for the trees that were delivered to families along the east coast December 4.

Mahoney’s Open for Business Following Fire

Mahoney’s Garden Center in Falmouth is open for business after a fire destroyed a garage on site Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Mahoney's around 3:30 pm Tuesday. The fire started in a garage that was used as a workspace and storage facility. Staff members were able to remove much of the machinery that was stored in the garage. No one was injured in the blaze. According to Falmouth Fire Chief Mark Sullivan, it took about an hour to get the fire under control. The fire also caused Rt. 28 to go down to one lane for two hours. The Falmouth Fire Rescue Department is investigating the fire. While officials are not sure yet what caused the blaze, they believe the fire was accidental. Sullivan said the garage is a total loss. Insurance adjusters were on site today calculating the loss. The garden center is back in business just a day after the …

Fire at Mahoney’s Garden Center

A fire at Mahoney's Garden Center in Falmouth damaged a garage on the property, a green house attached to the garage likely suffered damage as well. The garden center remains unscathed.

Firefighters were called to Mahoney's at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Officials are not yet sure what caused the fire and are investigating the incident. No one was injured in the blaze. Mahoney’s Garden Center is a family-run home and garden store with 8 retail locations in Massachusetts, including Winchester, Tewksbury, Wayland, Concord, Brighton, Falmouth, Osterville and Chelmsford.

I just spoke to Jan at Mahoney's, no animals or people were injured in the fire. I am working on an update to the story now, so stay tuned. The center is back in business today.   more ›
