Native Americans gathered in Mashpee Saturday for the 90th annual Wampanoag Pow Wow.
Every year, Native Americans from all over New England gather at the three-day Mashpee Wampanoag Pow Wow to display their arts and crafts, music and dance to honor their traditions. Men, women and children of all ages participate in the colorful festivities. There are amazing feathers everywhere to honor the birds they respect. The costumes are as colorful as they can be, showing the craft they have honed over the years. The music, of course, is Native American in origin, honoring their history and traditions that have survived years of strife. The costumes have changed somewhat with the passage of time as younger Native Americans who have come of age show that they have a unique and new way of doing things.
