Falmouth Pharmacy Partially Shut Down after State Inspection
Home Infusion Solutions is one of 11 compounding pharmacies across the state that were ordered to partially or completely shut down.
The state Department of Public Health began inspecting compounding pharmacies after a contaminated steroid caused an outbreak of meningitis, according to the Cape Cod Times. Across the country 45 people died and more than 600 were sickened from using the contaminated steroid. An inspection of Home Infusion Solutions in Falmouth found the pharmacy did not comply with requirements on facility design and controls. The Department of Public Health ordered the pharmacy to stop any sterile compounding in December. Home Infusion Solutions is working to correct the problem and submitted a plan of correction to the Department of Public Health.
