Falmouth Elks Facebook Administrator Responds to Flap

Bill Moorehead, the administrator of the Falmouth Elks Facebook page who touched off a series of comments after posting Wednesday that the page would be taken down, says he's not the one to blame for the decision.

"As the Administrator I just posted that the page is going to be shut down per order of the House committee at the Exalted rulers request," Moorehead posted on Patch Wednesday afternoon. "I attended the meeting and offered a compromise and it was rejected." 

Later in the day, Moorehead took down the Facebook announcement and replaced it with an appeal to members:

"I Bill Moorehead have removed the post about the Face Book page shutting down. Any issues with that should be brought to the attention of the house committee. Now would be a good time to take a hard look at this page and decide if you think it should be shut down. Any member can make a motion on the floor during a regular meeting to keep it running."

Comments from users of the Facebook page that has nearly 700 "likes" have been running strongly in favor of retaining the Elks' online presence:
