When Do We Turn The Clocks Back?

Those "dark at 5 p.m." afternoons are right around the corner, but sunrise will greet us earlier in the day.

Written by William Laforme and Louisa Hufstader

As you watch those increasingly early sunsets and the changing colors of the leaves, somewhere in the back of your mind you know it’s almost time to turn back the clocks and "fall back." But when exactly does the time change?

This year, we turn back the clocks and say goodbye to Daylight Saving Time during the overnight hours heading into Sunday, Nov. 3. That means an extra hour of sleep for many of us, followed by a period of disorientation as we adjust to earlier sunrises and sunsets.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac website, the sun will rise over Falmouth at 7:16 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 2, and it will set at 5:35 p.m.

The next morning (Sunday, Nov. 3) the sun will rise at 6:17 a.m. Sunset will be (wait for it…) 4:34 p.m.

Are you looking forward to the time change? Any special plans for that "extra hour" Saturday night? Tell us in the comments.
