Shark Reported Off Cape Cod - Was it a Great White?

An apparent great white shark was seen and photographed Sunday as it killed a seal off Eastham, where Coast Guard Beach was closed for about an hour, local media report.

In a sign to some late-summer swimmers that it's time to hang up the Speedos till next season, a suspected great white shark made an appearance Sunday off a popular Eastham beach, report the Cape Cod Times and Fox Boston.

"Several surfers were in the water, but no one was hurt," Fox Boston posted on Facebook.

Photographer Bruce Langsen captured an image of the shark after he saw it attack a seal, he told the Cape Cod Times.

The beach was closed for about an hour, the Times reports.
