Police To Beef Up Security at Falmouth Road Race

In light of the Boston Marathon bombings, public safety officials plan to tighten security for the Falmouth Road Race on Sunday, Aug. 11, the Cape Cod Times reported.

Bags and containers will be banned from the race area, and there will be boating restrictions in Woods Hole and heightened police presence in the streets, Falmouth police Lt. Brian Reid told Cape Cod Times.

The fire department plans to have extra bicycle patrols, equipment and ambulances on site, should a mass casualty occur.

Reid said most of the new security measured are classified, but that increased awareness was paramount.
