Falmouth Turbine Foes Fall Short at Health Board Meeting

Despite the urging of wind turbine neighbors and other opponents, the Falmouth Board of Health voted unanimously not to order the town to change the hours the turbines are operating, the Cape Cod Times reports.

Opponents of Falmouth's two 1.65-megawatt wind turbines were disappointed Monday night when the town board of health declined to order a change in the turbines' operating hours, currently 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., the Cape Cod Times reports in "Falmouth won't order more turbine shutoff."

Mark Cool responds: Read "Falmouth's 'Four Blind Mice,'" his latest blog post published Tuesday morning.

Some turbine foes left the meeting while it was still in progress, according to the Times, which reports that while health board members said they lacked hard evidence that noise from the turbines is causing unhealthful sleep loss in the neighborhood, the board would write town selectmen suggesting a later morning start time.
